The Nest Story

Founded in 2009 by Michelle van Niekerk, Nest Interiors began with a simple belief: that the right soft furnishings can transform a house into a home.

From a small studio to a full-service atelier.

What started as a small workroom creating bespoke interior designs has grown into a renowned interior decorating studio in Gqeberha.

Despite our growth, our philosophy remains unchanged. We believe in the power of touch. We obsess over the weight of a linen, the pile of a velvet, and the perfect tension of a zipper. Every piece that leaves our studio is still made with the same exacting standards we started with over a decade ago.

We don’t believe in fast fashion for the home. We create pieces designed to be lived in, loved, and passed down.

The Studio

Our studio in Walmer, Gqeberha is where the magic happens. It’s a space filled with rolls of fabric, pattern books, and the constant hum of sewing machines. We invite you to visit us, feel the fabrics, and discuss your next project.

Founder

Michelle van Niekerk

Michelle is the Founder and creative heart of Nest Interiors. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for design, she launched the business in 2009, transforming it from a humble home-office hobby into a thriving, full-service interior decorating company now based in Walmer, Gqeberha.

Shop Manager

Nangamso

Nangamso joined Nest Interiors in 2020 as an intern and has grown into her role as a decorator alongside Michelle. She now serves as our manager, overseeing the day-to-day operations, She is the friendly face that welcomes you into our showroom and is always on hand to assist our clients.

TJ is a creatively minded interior designer and artist with a passion for turning ideas into spaces and artwork that tells a story. Always learning, creating and pushing himself to grow both personally and professionally, he brings fresh perspective and artistic flair to every project at Nest.

Student Designer

Isabella

Isabella brings a creative eye and a passion for beautiful, unique spaces to the Nest Interiors team. She is currently furthering her studies to grow her design skills. You’ll find her at installations, helping out in the showroom or working behind the scenes to bring projects to life.

Assistant Decorator

Tammy

Tammy recently joined Nest Interiors as Assistant Decorator, working closely with Michelle across all areas of the business. She has a passion for creativity and attention to detail and looks forward to bringing fresh ideas to every project. For Tammy, decorating is about more than aesthetics. It’s about leaving a home and client better than she found them.
